Accountants brighten up Christmas for terminally ill children

With Christmas fast approaching, leading Grimsby Accountants A P Robinson & Co has chosen the Childrens charity 'When You Wish Upon A Star' for their Christmas Appeal.

Following from the success of last years Under The Tree campaign with Dianna Princess of Wales Childrens ward, A.P Robinson & Co is once again collecting gifts for sick and terminally ill children.

So far, over fifty local businesses have got involved with the Appeal and this number is certain to rise. A huge 14 foot glamorously decorated Christmas tree in the main reception acts as the focal point for the Appeal.

When You Wish Upon A Star grants the 'wishes' of children suffering from terminal and incurable illnesses, from the age of 2 to 16 years.  For a very sick child, this could mean meeting their favourite pop group, going on holiday, driving in a Ferrari or having a great day out with their family. Each year the charity organises Christmas trips to Lapland and this year nearly 100 children have the opportunity to meet Father Christmas and explore the wonderlands of the South Pole.

Charity Leader Joanne Kernon said: "These courageous children undergo some harsh and painful treatments and their families who so bravely fight alongside them need the support that this charity offers. Granting these wishes will bring some sparkle back into these childrens lives."

The firm are urging local businesses to join in with the idea and place a gift under the tree for the children of When You Wish Upon A Star.

Marketing Manager of A P Robinson & Co, Lizzy Dale said: "On behalf of the firm and the charity, we are so grateful to everyone who supports this appeal. It would make Christmas extra special for children suffering with these terrible illnesses."

The closing date for the 'Under The Tree' appeal is Friday 4th January 2008. For more information, please contact Lizzy Dale on 01472 345888.
