Stocking Appeal Helps Children of St Lukes and St Hugh's Special School
St. Lukes Primary School is a special school for pupils with moderate, severe and multiple learning difficulties aged from 3 to 11 years. Almost half of the pupils have additional problems such as autism, physical disabilities, visual impairments, hearing impairments, epilepsy and other medical conditions. Head Teacher of St Lukes, Rob Ashdown said: "Despite their difficulties, the children have the same needs and interests as all children. They enjoy many of the same activities and experiences as other young children and are really looking forward to Christmas." St Hugh's Secondary School is also a special co-educational day school for students aged between 11 and 19 years with a wide range of moderate/complex learning difficulties associated with physical and or social needs. They embark on courses to enhance their curriculum and promote the development of a more inclusive society. Marketing Manager of A P Robinson & Co, Lizzy Dale said: "These schools are in desperate need of further funding to improve the facilities for such a wide range of children with varied disabilities. On behalf of the firm and the schools, we would be so grateful to everyone who supports this appeal. It would make Christmas extra special for these children." The firm are asking local businesses to join in with the idea and place a donation in the stocking for the children of St Lukes and St Hugh's.
