Never to miss a good knees up for a charitable cause, the A P Robinson & Co team felt that the Star Ball would be another great opportunity to show their support for their 2008 charity When You Wish Upon A Star.

The event was hosted at the Beachcomber in Cleethorpes on Saturday 10th May 2008 and the team were joined by other local companies and celebrity stars from the hit soap Emmerdale. Celebrities included; Nick Miles, Sally Oliver, Matt Healey, Jenna-Louise Coleman, Nicola Wheeler, Emily Symons, Charlie Webb and Dale Meeks.

The event managed to raise over 20,000 pounds for the charity which sends poorly children to a beautiful winter wonderland to meet the real Father Christmas at his Lapland home. Throughout the year the charity also grants the wishes for other children who are suffering from terminal or incurable illnesses. Wishes could be anything from swimming with dolphins, or family holidays to Euro Disney and all over the world.

Fund raising games included an auction, a casino and a rafffle (for which Andrew Robinson made a very glamorous assistant)! Guests enjoyed a three course meal whilst listening to local jazz band Impulse.

The night was a huge sucess and Joanne Kernon of When You Wish Upon A Star said: 'It was the best night we have had for a long time. Everything went so swimmingly. We would really like to thank everyone for their support and for being so generous.'
